Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi was full of praise for his players as the Italian club reached the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final after beating AC Milan on Tuesday (May 16).
“It’s a dream come true. We always believed we could do it, we have had an extraordinary journey (to the final),” Inzaghi told while talking to the press.
The Italian manager had nothing but words full of appreciation for his players as he loved “everything” about last night’s (May 16) match against AC Milan.
“What pleased me? Everything. The running, the determination, the concentration… they were very good,” he said.
“The path has been long and difficult,” the coach noted, “tomorrow it’ll dawn on us what we’ve done,” said the 47-year-old. “Beautiful evening, I couldn’t ask for more.”
Inzaghi also showed his desire to stay at the club for a long time as he has no intention to leave the Italian club.
When asked if he’d like to stay at Inter for a long time, the coach replied “Absolutely, yes.”
“I have a contract, and evenings like this make you feel more closely a part of the club,” he continued.
“Me, my staff, and the players have put in an insane level of commitment,” the coach said. “We did well to not listen to much to criticism and work hard during more difficult moments.”
Inzaghi said he could now sit back and enjoy Wednesday’s second leg of the other semi-final between Manchester City and Real Madrid which is finely poised at 1-1 from the first leg.
“They’re obviously two of the best teams in Europe. The first match was well-balanced,” he added. “I’ll be watching the match with a great, great deal of interest!”
“We faced Real last season, we lost twice but played well. Tomorrow evening we’ll see who we face in the final,” he continued.
It must be noted that Inter have won the UCL three times and with a win on May 16, they have reached the final for the first time since 2010, where they won the title as well as winning the treble.
